FIWC 2017 Predictions

By 15th August 2017 No Comments

The 13th edition of FIFA interactive world cup will be held in London this week with a total prize pool of 300,000 dollar and the bragging right as the official world champion. My hopes came to an end after a 25 meter screamer from Dr Erhano in the semifinals of the qualification. But I will sit safely in the sofa tomorrow and watch with some Swedish chips in left hand, and a controller in the right – ready for next year.

fiwc groups

This years FIWC features a star-studded line-up with the best players from FUT Champions. Worth noticing is the improved format for this year where 32 players are divided into 4 groups – with 4 players advancing from each group. Players will have more room for errors and more time to get warm which will increase the chances of the most skilled players going through.
Let’s jump straight into the predictions:

Group 1:
The group of death in this years tournament. Stacked with plenty players that has the potential to go all the way. Timox, Expect, Prinsipe and Shellz are my picks to pass the group but keep a close eye on the young Argentinian player Nicolas99 who smashed FUT Champs this summer. This group also hosts two legends on the scene: Deto and Rein10. Experience is very important in the big tournaments and these guys should not be counted off, especially Deto who hold several world titles under the belt and had an amazing season this far. SONY is one of the absolute top players in Asia and if he reaches his maximum he will create problems for the favorites.

Group 2:
Once again I expect the Europeans to dominate the group. Timon, Manika, Tony, and Aubameyang are my picks to pass the group. The latter two will fight about the two last spots together with Stranger and Lucasrep. Zezinho and Marcus are two guys with a very bright future but I don’t expect them to have the strength yet to advance to the playoffx.

Group 3:
The first groups of Xbox. Gorilla is the clear favourite together with Stackz. Rafsou and Codyderfinisher showed great from recently and should be the two favorites to advance together with the Brits. Marlut had a great run in FUT Champions and will be creating problems for all his opponents. American region will be represented by Aman and Janoz in this group; two players who showed great performances recently and has the capacity to challenge the Europeans in the group. Subaridas, the Japanese player, should not be counted of either. He has a lot of international tournaments under his belt and can advance through this group using his experience.

Group 4:
A group with three clear favourites to pass: Rocky, Tass and Dani. The last place is very open but it will mainly be a battle between Rafifa and Bullock, the man with the plan who always shows up at the big tournaments. Joey should not be forgotten in the race either, a big day for him and he can see himself in the playoffs. Filthyp94 and Ameghessib are two new talanted players on the international scene who will need top performances to challenge the favorites.

PLAYOFFS:
For the first time ever, BO2 (best of 2) is introduced in the FIWC. The winners from each division will face each other in a cross console battle.

Playstation side:
For me there are two clear favorites: Prinsipe and Manika. These two guys had an amazing season and both are playing patiently in their build up play which always is beneficial in these tournaments where nerves come into play as well as a slower gameplay (due to external circumstances). The main threats will be Shellz and Timox, all from the deadly group A. Timox is a player who builds on momentum and if he gets warm he has the capacity to win this bracket. Dark horses: Aubameyang and Expectsporting.

Xbox side:
Rocky and Gorilla are the two favorites for this bracket narrowly followed by Tass and Dani. Rocky is the fresh FUT Champion and has the right confidence in his gameplay this year which will be very necessary in the playoffs. Gorilla has a 100% record in London and should be very motivated to finally win a world title. Tass is the most experienced player in this bracket and if he finds the patience in the defence he will be unbreakable, even for the favorites. Dani is full of confidence after a fantastic season and can take the final step this year. Dark horses: Stackz and Rafsou.

Good luck to everybody playing!
